The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Premana Domenico Pomoni, Federal Councillor Sabrina Fraccaroli, WMRA President Bruno Gozzelino, IAAF representative Carlos Cardoso and Gianni Mauri of FIDAL Lombardia; here are some words extrapolated from the speeches of the authorities present at the event:<br \/>\n&#8220;The day will be historic for our country, our small and isolated Premana is the center of the world of mountain running. It is a great honor to be able to host the strongest athletes in the world, knowing that everything was born from a group of ten friends, and then involved the whole country&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday 30\/07 at the start of the races, with the first challenges of the World Mountain Running Championships now in its 33rd edition, while next week, Sunday 06\/08, we get to the heart with the Giir di Mont, now in its 25th edition.<\/p>\n<p>The trademark of the small Lecco village of Premana is therefore work, the people here never spare themselves, striving with passion all together, with a spirit of sacrifice that is rarely seen, and the 500 volunteers make this village lost in the mountains the flagship and &#8220;the kingdom of mountain running&#8221;.
